Hot Pink
Hot Pink aims to embolden us in our sex lives and bring out of the shadows what is often kept private, out of fear of corrupting societal norms.
By using buckles, whips, and chains, this series contributes to the normalisation of bondage, discipline, and sadomasochism (BDSM), by embracing the materiality of fetish paraphernalia and welcoming the exploration of our bodies.
These materials are constricted, whipped, and pierced within this body of work, to celebrate the feelings, emotions, and stimulations humans often desire with partners.
The series also tackles misconceptions of who can, should, and does, use BDSM. Pink, as a colour, is often associated with notions of being soft, pretty, and delicate. By using this colour to whip, and frame pierced “flesh”, it becomes associated with domination, opposing its societal norm; an unexpected power flip.
Hot Pink invokes adrenaline, endorphins and intimacy. It is a sex-positive series, that embraces enjoyment of sexual behaviours which are often deemed to be more risqué.
